Mermaid Dreams Video Tutorial

A little background....

I created Mermaid Dreams back in I think 2016. It was an Art from the Heart project that I spent nearly 40+ hours in Photoshop working on. Tweaking it over and over again, trying different color options, and sometimes just moving a bubble or fish over by one pixel. I wanted this piece perfect and I finally was happy enough with it that I published it.

This piece was never meant to be a tutorial or a digital background set. It is meant to be a piece of art. Not to be copied or mimicked which sadly happens so often in our line of work.

But for almost two years I am always getting asked for this piece as a tutorial. So I thought long and hard about this and while I don't want people to copy and mimic anyones work I think that the techniques and steps that I take are extremely beneficial in furthering your Photoshop knowledge.

The techniques that you will learn can be applied to almost any Photoshop Composite as well as your regular daily editing.

With that being said I want you to learn from the tutorial and take the educational aspects from the video and create your OWN art work with those techniques. There is no reason that it should look like mine. Get creative, let those juices flow and come up with a piece that is entirely of your own design.

About the Tutorial

The video tutorial was not recorded during the process of the creation of the art. The Art piece just had to many hours into it to record. I did do a speed video that shows the full process of the creation but at 8000+ times the speed of the original video.  Because of the tutorial being created after the actual art piece the colors do vary as well as the strength of the lighting I also did not record in the tutorial video things that I ended up deleting in the end, like extra shadows and using real bubble overlays because I created my own individual bubbles for the image which I do show in the final tutorial. I work quickly through the tutorial to show you as close to the  same steps I took to create the first image but again there will be slight variations in the tutorial versus the original art piece.   The biggest difference you will notice is the darkness of the art piece versus the video tutorial (I just used levels to change the overall strength of the piece)

The Speed Editing Video from the original art piece creation.
